5. Sewing

I decided to sew a few pieces together just to get the journalling going, and when I had a bit more time, to sew the rows together so that I have all the rows ready to work on as I need them.

You will need 16 long columns made up of:

10 - 4 1/2" x 3 1/2" pieces
5 - 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" pieces
5 - 4 1/2" x 5 1/2" pieces
3 - 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" pieces

A good way to keep things in order is to take 16 Ziplock bags and put the contents of 1 column into each bag.

Stitch each column together (randomly) using an accurate 1/4" seam allowance. This will ensure that your quilt fits together beautifully when all the columns are complete.

When one column is fully journalled then stitch it onto the next column, until in the end, there are 16 columns full of journalling all joined together to make the quilt top!
