The Quilted Crow...
Fresh And Shiny And New!

Hexagon Happiness...

I am so thrilled that so many of you out there are enjoying stitching up 'The Hexagon Quilt'! Now some of you are getting very eager to know more (Part 2 is in the next Issue of Vignette - Issue 3) and keep asking for more information. Well...

Here's an idea; replace one of the floral hexagons with a signature block and the year that you started the quilt:

My hint for 'getting a look like mine' is simply to be completely random and have fun with your scrap bag. By using your scraps you know that they are all fabrics that you've used in other projects and should probably love:

Now this is in the next issue, BUT, so many of you are asking what thread colours to use for the stitchery. Well, I am using all my leftovers, end of skeins, bits of my Cosmo threads (I do have a list of the exact thread numbers - not sure if you will need it - what do you think). Each stitchery hexagon is different. As I went along I simply picked three colours of thread that went with the surrounding hexagons:

It was really fun and kept my 'stitching interest' as the quilt progressed. For more information you'll just have to wait until Issue 3!

Hi. I've loved hexagons for so long. Hadn't thought about using stitcheries. Fantastic idea. Is it possible to get copies of the earlier issues?

Hi Leanne! I just received Volume 2 of Vignette here in Jacksonville, Florida, USA. I absolutely love your magazine and your website. I am making the Hexi quilt right along with you.

Happiness is Quilting in McKinney, Texas, has provided your magazine and I understand will have kits of the Quilt Along available in May. I can't wait!

Dear Leanne
I am really enjoying everything from "Vignette". I am starting the hexagon quilt, using up scraps while we are travelling in Tasmania. It is so cute with the extra embroidery. I too have been inspired to start my own blog which is so much fun. Thanks for everything, stitching, recipes new products and INSPIRATION!

Hi Leanne
I haven't started the new projects yet. I'm working on what I think was your first block of the month. Its coming along really nicely. I'm using my version of a design wall (firt time) to help me with my colour balance. If I don't do something like that, I find that I'm not happy with the overall flow of colours and textures through the quilt..... I'm hoping that this is going to be spectacular. Sewing machine has given up the ghost, I'm going to pick up a new one on Monday....until then plenty of hand stitching.

Wendy

I wanted to thank you so much for the inspiration you have given me via the Vignette magazines. You have inspired me in many firsts - the first mystery quilt I have ever done, first time blogging, first time participating in a blog (Vignette in stitches) and I have ordered the glue and hexagons to give that a try too! (Although I don't have a very big stash of fabrics!) Thank you so much!! Oh and by the way, I made the lemonade from the first issue and we all loved it.
