Jars today and journal tommorow...
Did you miss me?

Travel journal...

Yesterday I promised a peek at my travel journal from my recent trip to Italy, Turkey and Greece:

So here it is finally finished!

Seeing as I had to get my act together before I left for the trip (with only two hours before I had to leave for the airport) I decided on a pre-made, chipboard cover journal - kept it simple. I like to take my journal with me everywhere so I write (scribble) in it wherever I am (usually in the plane/bus/taxi etc!) otherwise it would never get done. I wrote in the journal on the trip, then I decorated it just yesterday.

I simply covered it with a divine piece of wrapping paper of Italy, using the parts of the map that were the parts of Italy we got to see. Then I added four metal corners, a ribbon, and a memory plate. It could not have been easier.

I love to scribble while on the plane (nicely distracting for a nervous flyer!) so I did my cover page:

I always leave room for photos - seeing as I take SO MANY! I simply fill in the blank pages when I get home after I've had my photos developed. With this journal I also used colored pencils yesterday:

I also like to leave a few blank double pages for photos:

I also love to include postcards:

I love using spiral bound journals because you can really fill them up!

Hope this inspires you!

Just found your blog via a link from another blog, and how serendipitous it is! I'm off in 6 days to visit Italy, Greece, and Turkey (with one stop in Croatia)! Too funny. I can't wait, and now I will make a travel journal, too. Your ideas are wonderful. Thanks so much for sharing them!

Thank you Leanne for such a well written post and inspiring post.

You've inspired me to get out my old journal from our honeymoon in Europe and jazz it up. I must get some of those metal corners as my journal has become very tatty from years of reading and re-reading.

Thank you again, guess what I'm going to spend my Sunday afternoon doing?

Thanks for sharing Leanne - sounds and looks like an amazing trip.

Inspired by your journals I made one for a friend's 40th for her to complete when she goes to Hawaii to celebrate later this month. Also have one to do for my in-laws who are heading to Alaska & Canada later this year. My MIL loves to collect all the pamphlets, postcards, so I thought a journal would be a great place for her to store then and hopefully also record her memories.

Thanks for the inspiration.

So far I've resisted the scrapbook making thing because I've got so much time/$$$ invested in my quilting but ever since I received your Quilter's Journal DVD and reading all these neat things on your blog I'm weakening...I know I want to make the journal on the DVD...and now I'm thinking More More More. My DDIL is hooked on scrapbooking so I'm passing on the link for your blog to her to enjoy as well.

Just lovely! I should remember to do something like this on our next trip. My photos always languish on the computer and my memories fade slowly from my brain.

Thanks Leanne for sharing ‘the making of’ your Italian-trip journal. You’re amazing, even giving us the names and numbers of the scrapping stuff. I will certainly go search for the metal corners! You may take a holiday from blogging now, though I enjoy reading your posts.

Inspirational indeed! I love it!

Leanne, that is so lovely! I always go on holidays and wish i had kept a journal but somehow the time flies past and its the last day of the trip before i have even had a chance to write something down! Hmm maybe next time...

Leanne that is lovely! But whatever time did you get to bed??? If it is nearly 12pm here I don't like to think what time it is over there and I know you've only just posted this as I popped over earlier - GET SOME SLEEP GIRL! We don't want you to burn out too young in this rat race you are living!!! (and I thought crafting was meant to be relaxing!) Take care, Lucy

Leanne

WOW do you ever sleep. Your mind must be going at 100 miles an hour. Every thing you do is simply amazing.
