The Quilter's Quarter...

Another adventure...

And why would a book on Norway be on my loungeroom floor? Because I'm going to Norway!!!! I have been invited to go and teach in Norway by Siw from Quiltegarden.

Ikea_and_school007

I am very excited about the journey and can't wait to tell you more. Siw and I are finalising all the classes at the moment so stay tuned if you are from that wonderful part of the world. (Meanwhile I will study my book and learn about the history of Norway!)

And while I'm on about that part of the world I've also just been here (Melbourne, not Sweden):

This is IKEA in Richmond, Melbourne, Australia. I REALLY love IKEA (if you're a regular reader you may have noticed that from photos taken around my home). It is infact a bit of a joke amongst my family and friends just how much I love IKEA.

I was introduced to IKEA by my friend Rosalie and her family (let me tell you that her Dad can assemble IKEA furniture faster than anyone we know). They have instant decorating (another addiction of mine and Rosalie and Melly's) that has a wonderfully affordable pricetag attached. So we can all be seen there quite regularly!

They have everything from great candles and serviettes to lounge suites with removable and washable covers (anyone with children will realise the significance of this!). My favorite thing is picture frames for photos and stitcheries.

So I thought that for all of you who love IKEA from all parts of the world I would show you 'my' IKEA.

Oh and recently when in Greece I happened to snap this photo from the bus window:

I just couldn't resist!

Hallo Leanne, when do you come to Holland to teach the Dutch quilters? Greeting Martine.

happy zombie

I love Ikea too! A fantasy global trip for me would be to visit an Ikea in every country!!!

Martha

Wow! It was interesting reading the comments. I wasn't so much excited or envious of your trip to Norway, but thrilled that you love Ikea. (I'm so weird!) It's one of my favourite places to go! And they have a fabric section!!! How could you not love it?
PS Have fun in Norway!

Gudrún

I see your going to Norway I just say as Lucy can´t you take a detour and come to Iceland?

Leanne

IKEA only opened in Adelaide last year(typical). I do love it they are great for storage I have some of their wire baskets under my sewing table. Have a wonderful time in Norway, it is a really beautiful country. May at Abyquilts mentioned your visit in her blog.

Trudy

Leanne, you lucky, lucky duck to be teaching in Norway. Do you have to pinch yourself sometimes?!!

Solveig

Welcome to Norway! If you have time and interested I can show you my town, Lillehammer the winter Olympic city in 1994.

Anina

Oooh! That should be a fun trip! I love IKEA too! If our local store wasn't 45 minutes away I'd be there a whole lot more often.

Hanne

I am looking forward to see you in Trysil Leanne :-)

Anne

Hello, Leanne! I've been a lurker on your blog for some time now. Just thought I'd let you know I have talked to Siw at Quiltegaarden, and hopefully I'll be able to come to one of your classes :o) Anne in Norway

Connie

Leanne, yes definitely do come to USA sometime as well. I'm sure there are many of us who would come to where you are for a chance to 'swap howdies'. In fact if you came in April I would make certain to get you to the Paducah show! Think it over! A question off the subject here, I'm looking around for the 2-ring 7 Gypsies binder used in your journaling DVD but haven't found one yet. How recent is that DVD? Perhaps the binder is a 'retired' product. And I want to tell you I've watched it 4 times already; I LOVE your accent and you're just too cute! Love your enthusiasm about life & all things!

May Britt

I am soooo looking forward to you coming to Norway. Oslo is a wonderful town. Hope you will have time to look around. And then you come to Trysil. I live only one hour drive from Trysil and have registered for your class on friday together with some friends who will stay over with me. If you want you can read about Trysil here: http://www.trysil.com/ You can get it in english.
or just ask me if you wonder about anything. I live in Elverum:

Paula

Going to Norway, huh? A couple of women whose blogs I read have already said they are attending your classes. I'm so jealous. What would it take to get you to the U.S.??

I love IKEA too. Except for me to go a store is a 2 1/2 hours drive so I don't get to go too often. Last time I went I found a gorgeous glass vase and 4 small bottles I use for holding buttons. When we buy a new house I'm sure we'll making a trip.

Leanne I hope you will have a lovely time visiting Trondheim-Norway. It’s beautiful overthere! I’m a big fan of IKEA too. My studio is furnished with IKEA desks and Bookcases and we have lots and lots of boxes to store all kinds of things. In 1979 IKEA opened their first shop in Holland and we bought a complete lounge suite and tables. It has served us for years!

Lucy Locket

By the way Leanne - it's really not far from Norway to Newcastle - couldn't you do a little detour????

Lucy Locket

unusable - not on usable!!!! It's early (ish) and I haven't got my glasses on yet so can't think clearly!

Lucy Locket

Hi Leanne - I used to love IKEA - and still do really for many things - I'm sitting in front of my IKEA computer cupboard, next to my IKEA bookcases and dining table and chairs while the children watch the telly in the IKEA tv cabinet and and so on. But while the children comfortably sleep in their IKEA beds we have a collapsed king size IKEA bed (big enough for 5) that is currently on usable thanks to two louvre doors from the children's old bedroom cupboards! It is a total disaster and collapses on a regular basis when you are fast asleep! But can we afford to replace it? Not unless we go to IKEA!!!!!!
